While the budding actor is gearing up for his cinematic debut in the star-studded Parwaaz Hai Junoon, we will also be seeing him in numerous other ventures. The actor stars in upcoming period drama, Aangan with Sajal Aly, Ahsan Khan, Mawra Hocane and many others. Apart from that, he will also be seen trying his hand at singing on Coke Studio this season.
However, in a tete-a-tete with writer Ahmed Sarym, the Yakeen Ka Safar actor opened up about two more projects he's been readying himself for.
The 24-year-old is all set to star in Humsafar writer Farhat Ishtiaq's next, as well as a Shakespeare play which is scheduled for next year. "I've already started memorising it because it's going to be a three-hour show," the actor revealed. "It's terrifying!"
Ahad added, "I think we live in a time where sometimes, people say Shakespeare is now irrelevant. But I think we can learn a lot from Shakespeare. We can learn a lot about story-telling, how stories are composed, how characters are."
"Shakespeare himself was so intelligent that he put clues in the writeup itself for the actors to tell them how to perform. Taking on the role of Hamlet is going to be big for me. It'll be my return to stage after almost a three year gap," he said.
The Shakespeare company Ahad works with in Canada contacted him for three years before signing him up as a lead. Ahad believes it just shows their level of commitment to him.
The Parwaaz Hai Junoon star will be the first brown actor to be cast as Hamlet in Canada. "I've always respected Canada for diversity. I've played roles of a white man in plays. I played Tony, a brown man playing a white man, which is unheard of," the actor said.
Brown actors have done Shakespearean plays before as well. Faran Tahir did one recently in LA too, but Ahad is the first brown actor to play Hamlet," Ahmed told "The Express Tribune.
