PHC seals clinic, evacuates patients
The patients get rescued from deplorable conditions
The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) sealed an illegal drug treatment and rehabilitation centre on Wednesday after evacuating 13 patients, a press release stated. Reportedly, joint action was taken by the district administration, the health authority and police, under the supervision of the commission. Rah-e-Nijat Clinic was sealed and 13 patients were then evacuated to the Punjab Institute of Mental Health, where they were screened by experts. The press release added that the patients were kept in deplorable conditions, without any medical treatment for drug rehabilitation. There were also no standard operating procedures being implemented for food and accommodation. Further, it was also discovered that the patients were suffering from many diseases, the press release concluded.
