KAARCHI: If there’s one thing Pakistan definitely stands out for, is its delicious cuisine. While we might be heavily influenced by our neighbours in this category, there are just some dishes no one can do better than us.
As I was coming to work this morning, I saw queues at chai ke dhaabay and the halwa puri stalls for breakfast. What better way to start the national holiday then to have delicious halwa puri with chai for breakfast. Nothing screams Pakistani more than the love for food!
While you might be planning to go out and enjoy the pleasant weather today, possibly a rendezvous to our beloved beaches or a long drive to Bahria Town, it’s hardly possible to make a quick trip through all four provinces.
Each province has its own food specialty, but since it’s not quite possible to plan an impromptu journey through this beautiful country in a day, let’s settle for what we have available, yeah?
You can easily find halwa puri near your house at any restaurant. I absolutely love Nasir hotel’s breakfast (they have a few branches spanned across Karachi).
For lunch, there’s nothing better than Sindhi biryani. While I’ll definitely vouch for a homemade version, Student Biryani or Biryani of the Seas is your best bet; in case you don’t feel like slaving away in the kitchen or spending a hefty amount on food.
For an evening snack, you can always opt for either some delicious homemade pakoray (given this gorgeous weather, they’re definitely a match made in heaven) or some aloo samosas! Yum!
If you’ve spent your whole day relaxing at home, head out to the highway for dinner! You can kill two birds with one stone: a long drive and the chance to devour great food!
There are various restaurants which serve some finger licking karahis and Balochi tikka. I’d opt for Dua restaurant there which serves both. Their Balochi tikka is spicy and will definitely leave you craving for more. They also serve a huge range of Peshawari karahi, all in beef, chicken and mutton.
To finish off your foodventure (yup, that’s what I’m going to call it) you should go for ras malai or some warm gulab jamun from Rehmat-e-Shireen!
