K-P remains PTI citadel as FATA comes into fold

The party has simple majority to form the government in the province

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has secured majority in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) provincial and National Assembly seats in elections 2018.

In the elections 2013, the party formed the government in the province with coalition partners. However, this time the huge turnout of voters has favoured PTI, allowing it to form the government on its own with simple majority.

According to the Election Commission of Pakistan, the number of registered votes in K-P and former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) were 17,539,420 out of which 10,075,717 were males and 749,319 females.

The party has secured the highest number of National Assembly seats in K-P and Fata as compared to other political parties.

PTI candidate Umar Ayub Khan secured 172,609 votes out of a total 343,442 votes on NA-17 Haripur. The party Chairman Imran Khan secured 113,822 votes out a total of 246,318 votes on NA-35 Bannu while Imran Khattak secured 90,256 votes out of 188,159 votes cast in Nowshera II.  Similarly, Mohammad Iqbal Afridi has secured 12,537 votes on NA-44 Khyber Agency –II Tribal Area-5 but nonetheless clinched victory at the constituency for the party.

On NA-1 Chitral, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) candidate Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali emerged victorious while the runner-up candidate was from PTI. The PTI candidate emerged victorious on NA-2 Swat-I with 61,687 votes. The total number of voters in this constituency was 382,974 out of which 155,781 cast their votes.

With regards to NA-3 Swat II, the total number of voters was 401,124 out of which 161,872 cast their votes. The PTI candidate secured victory in the constituency with 68,162 votes. The party also managed a victory on NA-4 Swat-III with its candidate securing 71,600 votes out of a total of 160,431 votes cast. The total number of voters in the constituency was 409,012.

PTI also clinched victory on NA-5 Upper Dir with its candidate bagging a total of 66,545 votes out of 215,920 votes cast. The total number of registered voters in the constituency was 447,414. The result on NA-6 Lower Dir-I was also in PTI’s favour as its candidate secured victory with 63,440 votes out of a total of 171,775 votes cast. The total number of voters was 351,245.

With regards to NA-7 Lower Dir-II, the PTI candidate secured 63,017 votes out of a total of 146,178 votes polled.

The party also secured victory on NA-8 Malakand with a total of 81,310 votes out of 86,429 votes cast. The total number of voters in this constituency was 386,449. The party also secured the victory on NA-9 Buner with its candidate securing 58,037 votes out of a total of 180,968 votes in the constituency. The total number of voters in NA-9 was 445,474.

However, the PTI failed to secure victory on NA-10 Shangla where Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Ebadullah Khan secured 34,070 votes with PTI’s candidate trailing with 27,382 votes. The total number of registered voters in NA-11 Kohistan –cum-Lower Kolai Pallas Kohistan was 154,620 out of which 63,229 votes were cast. MMA’s Afreen Khan won the seat with 15,859 votes while PTI’s candidates only secured 9,854 votes.

On NA-12 Batagram, the total number of voters was 258,155 out of which 91,643 turned out to cast their vote. PTI’s candidate secured the victory with 34,270 votes. However, the party supported an independent candidate in NA-13 Manshera-I constituency who won the seat with 109,282 votes. The total number of voters in this constituency was 526,974 out of which 261,154 had cast their votes.

PTI faced defeat in NA-14 Mansehra-cum-Torghar at the hands of PML-N’s candidate Muhammad Sajjad who won with 74,889 votes while PTI’s candidate Zar Gul Khan was the runner up with 59,638 votes. The total voters in the constituency were 610,931 out of which 212,009 cast their votes.

On NA-15 Abbottabad-I, PML-N’s candidate Murtaza Javed Abbasi secured the victory with 95,340 votes while PTI’s candidate Ali Asghar Khan was the runner up with 81,845 votes. The total number of voters in the constituency was 478,336 out of which 241,869 votes were cast.

However, PTI secured the victory on NA-16 Abbotabad-II with its candidate securing 85,203 votes out of a total of 179,604 votes. The total number of voters was 360,392 in the constituency. On NA-17 Haripur, the total number of votes was 657,648 out of which 343,442 votes were cast. The PTI candidate won the seat with 172,609 votes.

On NA-18 Swabi-I, the number of votes were 449,012 out of which 194,828 votes were cast. PTI’s Asad Qasir got 78,970 votes. PTI also secured victory on NA-19 Sawabi-II with 83,903 votes out of a total of 211,730 votes. The total number of voters was 463,321 in the constituency.

With regards to NA-20 Mardan-I the number of voters was 430,538 out which 194,435 were cast while PTI’s candidate secured the victory with 78,140 votes.  On NA 21 Mardan-II, the number of votes was 419,713 out of which 192,587 votes were cast and PTI’s candidate was runner up with 78,876 votes while Awami National Party’s (ANP) Ameer Haider Khan Hoti secured the victory with 78,911 votes.

PTI emerged victorious on NA-22 Mardan-III with 58,577 votes out of a total of 210,057. The total number of votes was 389,668 in the constituency.  The party also secured victory on NA-23 Charsadda-I with 59,371 votes out of a total of 176,069. The total number of votes in the constituency was 417,386.

With regards to NA-24 Charsadda-II, PTI was able to secure another victory with 83,495 votes out of a total of 209,905. The total number of votes was 463,440 in the constituency.

The party also secured NA-25 Nowshera-I with 23,194 votes out of a total of 53,343 votes. The total number of votes in the constituency was 378,941. PTI emerged victorious on NA-26 Nowshera-II with 90,256 votes. The total votes in the constituency were 377,308 out of which 188,159 were cast.

On NA-27 Peshawar-I, the total number of votes was 337,329 out of which 154,598 votes were cast. PTI’s candidate in the constituency secured the victory with 71,158 votes. With regards to NA-28 Peshawar-II, the total number of votes was 336,554 out which 150,488 were cast. PTI got 74,414 votes and secured the victory.

PTI also won the NA-29 Peshawar-III constituency with 49,762 votes out of a total of 130,157 votes. The total voters in the constituency were 320,401.

On NA-30 Peshawar IV, the total number of votes was 308,891 out of which 125,891 were votes cast. PTI won the seat with 73,781 votes. The party also emerged victorious on NA-31 Peshawar V with 87,895 votes. The total number of votes in the constituency was 390,211 out which the number of votes cast was 164,680.

The party was able to secure NA-32 Kohat with 82248 votes out of the total of 197,343 votes cast. The total voters in the constituency were 506,699. PTI was also able to secure the NA-33 Hangu seat with 28,819 votes out of the total of 81315 votes cast. The total number of votes in the constituency was 275,947.

On NA-34 Karak, the PTI candidate secured the victory with 77,181 votes while the party chief also secured the victory on NA-35 Bannu with 113,822. However, NA-36 Lakki Marwat and NA 37 Tank were won by the candidates of MMA.

With regards to NA-38 DI Khan-I the PTI candidate secured the seat with 80,236 votes while the party’s candidate won on NA-39 D I Khan-II 79,334 votes.

Similarly, for the 10 tribal NA seats, the number of registered voters was 2,172,598 out of which the number of votes cast was 707,657 and PTI candidates had secured 175,108 votes.
