PESHAWAR: A video of an alleged mobile snatcher, who was tortured by local police in Peshawar, caused a stir on social media after being shared multiple times.

The man, Hussain, blames Banamarhi police for arresting and torturing him for several days inside a house, where other people were also kept 'unlawfully'.

The video succinctly shows torture marks all over his body and has caused a public outcry over the performance of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police.

Hussain claims he was booked in a fake drug case.

On the other hand, a police official of the Banamari police station told The Express Tribune, on the condition of anonymity, that the accused was a mobile phone snatcher and involved in the street crimes for which he was arrested and booked.
