Celebrating together

With less than a week left for Eidul Azha celebrations, most households are busy with their sacrificial animals

ISLAMABAD: With less than a week left for Eidul Azha celebrations, most households are busy in buying or caring for their sacrificial animals. Just like every other year, this year perhaps will also see a significant increase in the sales of animals. This only goes on to show that the purchasing power of many households is on the rise and the growing middle class is able to afford sacrificial animals.

However, there still exists a section of people who will be unable to afford an animal for sacrifice and will not be able to celebrate Eid with the same fervour as the well-off. We need to remember these people and ensure that they don’t feel deprived. They should also celebrate the festival like the rest of us.

This year we should pledge to do more than just giving these people a portion of our sacrificial meat. We could collect money in our neighbourhood and spend it on getting them new clothes and shoes.

Our little effort can make their Eid better and we shouldn’t shy away from doing good deeds.
