The chairperson of HCCI's sub-committee on WASA Abdul Waheed Shaikh in a statement pointed out that several localities remained submerged in ankle deep sewage water. He said, "The pumping machines don't work continuously and the sludge isn't regularly cleaned from the sewers causing blockage swamps on the roads in the residential and commercial areas." He added, "Several manholes in the city remain uncovered, exposing citizens to fatal accidents."

Shaikh also complained that there was a water shortage in several areas of the city.
He contended that businesses in many commercial and trade centres in the city suffered from these problems.
The HCCI's official deplored that the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, Eidul Azha festivities and monsoon rains may compound the problem but the authorities have yet to address the issues.
