The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended May 26 for the combined group in the week under review witnessed an increase of 14.83 per cent as compared to the corresponding week of last year.
SPI for the lowest income group up to Rs3,000 registered a nominal decrease of 0.12 per cent over the previous week. The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 298.88 points against 299.24 points registered in the previous week, according to figures of Federal Bureau of Statistics.
SPI for the combined group registered a decrease of 0.11 per cent as it went down from 287.65 points in the previous week to 287.34 points. Average prices of 13 items registered a decrease, while that of 16 items increased with the remaining 24 items’ prices unchanged.
