The Water and Sanitation Services Company Peshawar (WSSCP), in a circular issued on Friday, said that they have consulted 200 clerics of local mosques to sensitise the public in their Friday sermons regarding the importance of cleanness.
WSSCP Operations General Manager Engineer Ali Khan told to media that all the main drainage lines would be cleaned and solid waste collected from all collection points before Independence Day.
For this purpose, he added that additional staff has been deputed to clean up the streets.
“WSSP objective is to provide a garbage-free, neat and clean Peshawar,” said Ali, while appealing to the citizens to cooperate with the sanitation staff by disposing household solid waste at the designated collection points.
To facilitate citizens, a complaint registration centre with toll-free number 1334 has been established.
He said that since its activation, the toll-free number has received 1,536 complaints pertaining to issues relating to water and sanitation.
The Operations GM claimed that 98 per cent of all complaints were resolved within 24 hours of registering them while the remaining are in progress.
