FIA arrest human smugglers in a special crackdown in Faisalabad
LAHORE:
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has and Federal Investigations Agency (FIA) arrested proclaimed offenders (POs) from Sheikhupura and Faisalabad on Thursday.
NAB, FIA probe embezzlement of Rs500 million
The accused arrested by NAB was identified as Rizwan Mumtaz. He was declared a PO in 2015. He was facing an allegation of looting Rs9.8 million by defrauding the public. He would extract money from the public in the name of importing accessories and spare parts for computers. NAB filed a reference before the court in 2015 and had already arrested the brother of the suspect. NAB will present the detained man before an accountability court to obtain his physical remand.
NAB Spokesperson Muhammad Zeeshan Anwar said the bureau’s chairperson, Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal, had ordered the immediate arrest of proclaimed offenders during his three-day visit to Lahore.
Meanwhile, Federal Investigations Agency (FIA) Lahore arrested at least 48 accused persons including, 24 proclaimed offenders and human smugglers, during a special crackdown in Faisalabad and Sargodha divisions over the last 24 hours.
NAB sends notices to heads of oil and gas companies
Among those detained were 20 human smugglers who were arrested over charges of defrauding innocent people on the pretext sending them or their relatives abroad for employment in Dubai, Canada, Oman, Germany, UK, Saudi Arabia and Australia.
