QPC and BUJ remember colleagues killed in August 8 2016 attack

QUETTA: The Quetta Press Club and Balochistan Union of Journalists (BUJ) paid homage to fallen journalists on the second anniversary of August 8 blast and demanded compensation for their martyred colleagues.

Quetta Press Club President Razaur Rehman, former BUJ president Hamad Siyapad, Secretary General BUJ Ayub Tareen and the journalist community gathered in the Quetta Press Club to remember the journalists killed in Civil Hospital’s suicide attack.

Addressing the condolence reference, Raza ur Rehman said, “Our brave journalists Shahzad Khan and Mehmood Khan have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty and the journalist community in Balochistan will continue pursuing their mission of showing truth to the world.”

He lamented the non-seriousness of the provincial government regarding the job announcement for the family members of the journalists who died in the attack. He said that the effected families are yet to get jobs and compensation from the government despite the announcements. “Quetta Press Club and BUJ will continue to strive to resolve the issues of victim families and the process of their welfare will be continued,” Razaur Rehman added.

Former BUJ president Hamad Siyapad and Secretary General Ayub Tareen said that the journalist community in Balochistan will never compromise on the freedom of journalism. “Martyrdoms can’t halt us from showing truth through our writings in Balochistan,” he added. The journalist community offered condolence for the Shahzad Khan and Mehmood Khan and recited Quran for them.
