KARACHI: Another application challenging the bail granted to prime suspect in Naqeebullah Mehsud murder case, former Malir SSP Rao Anwar was submitted by the victim’s father in the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday.

Filed by lawyer Faisal Siddiqui on behalf of Muhamamd Khan, the petition prayed to the high court to cancel bail granted to Anwar on the ground that it was decided without the consent of the plaintiff.

It is pertinent to note that the bail was granted by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in a case pertaining to the use of illegal arms and explosives in the alleged fake encounter which killed Waziristan native Naqeebullah.

In the 25-page verdict, it was maintained that available evidence did not establish the former Malir SSP’s presence at the crime scene when the killings took place. Eye witnesses in the case did not even recognise Anwar's voice. According to the verdict, further investigations were needed to ascertain facts in the case.
