BAP rejects rumours of ‘establishment’ support in polls

Kamal says next coalition government will be announced soon

QUETTA: Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) President Jam Kamal has said as the downtrodden people of the province were not getting adequate attention from the Centre “we introduced a provincial-based political party”.

“Good governance has become a more challenging job in Balochistan than maintaining law and order as only a sincere leadership can help develop the province,” said the BAP president while talking to the media in Quetta on Monday.



Refuting hearsays about establishment’s involvement in formation and BAP’s victory in the July 25 elections, Kamal said, “Our opponents cannot digest their defeat which is why they are alleging that we are the establishment’s favourite.

“Though BAP emerged prior to general elections, we had been working on its structure for more than one-and-a-half years and a glimpse of our party was seen in the Senate elections.”

He reiterated that BAP was formed to make Balochistan’s future decisions here, instead of outside the province. “Our party follows an ideology of a prosperous Balochistan,” he added.



“BAP’s 15 candidates emerged victorious in general elections and four independent candidates joined our party. Those parties alleging rigging and terming our party a sacred cow should know that some of our strong candidates faced defeat.”

To a query regarding the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and its influence in Balochistan, Kamal said, “Apart from the name, we are fed up of their thoughts and mind-set of thinking of us as slaves.”
On his party’s position in forming the next government, the BAP president said, “We have gained support of a majority of MPAs and liaison with other parties is under way. The next coalition government will be announced in the coming days.”
