LAHORE: A man attempted to rape a minor child in Badami Bagh on Monday. Reportedly, the victim was playing outside her home when the accused, identified as Azam, offered her some candy if she followed him. He then took her to a washroom in a nearby market where he attempted to assault the child. However, he did not succeed in his plan and abandoned the girl before fleeing the scene. The child managed to make her way home and informed her family of the incident. The victim’s family staged a demonstration against the incident outside the police station. They also burnt tyres and shouted slogans to demand justice. Police registered a case against the suspect and have arrested him. Police stated they were investigating the matter further. Sexual abuse of minors is a serious issue in Pakistan. Thousands of cases are reported in the country every year.
