Pakistan’s turning point

Imran Khan is said to be holding his oath-taking ceremony on August 14

PESHAWAR: Imran Khan is said to be holding his oath-taking ceremony on August 14. There could perhaps be no better day and time than the Independence Day of Pakistan when Khan would be officially sworn in as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Seventy years ago, Mohammad Ali Jinnah made his much-acclaimed speech just three days before the D-Day and years later Khan, who envisions to govern Pakistan the way our Quaid did, will perhaps do the same. This could mark a turning point for Pakistan.

There is no doubt that if Khan sets to do the things he said he would in his recent speech then Pakistan would go on to become a prosperous and peaceful country — a country that could set the stage for not just a prosperous South Asia but also a flourishing Muslim world.

Khan entered politics to set the political course of the country right and devoted 22 years of his life to doing just that. After many ups and downs, August 14 would be the day Khan will be able to carve his name in Pakistan’s history with pride.

This Independence Day will be a day that would be remembered for years to come.
