Cultural Day: UoL auditorium named after Palestine

The rector said that the situation in Palestine was similar to that in Kashmir.

Dr MH Qazi, the University of Lahore rector, on Friday announced scholarships for Palestinian students studying in Lahore.


Dr Qazi was addressing the students at an event to mark the Palestinian Cultural Day that was attended by Palestinian Cultural Minister Hasni Abu Ahmad and Ambassador Hazem Hussain Abu Shanab.

The rector said that the situation in Palestine was similar to that in Kashmir.

The university auditorium, decorated for the occasion with Pakistani and Palestinian flags, was also named the Palestine Auditorium. Documentaries on history and current situation in Palestine were screened at the event followed by photographic exhibition.  Mohammad Khaled, the only Palestinian student at the UoL, said,

“We are not against Jews. In fact we share a history and happy moments with them. We just want the world to know that.”
