SARGODHA: A man murdered his son in Sargodha on Friday, police said on Friday.

An official of Sajid Shaheed police limits told Express News that Ghulam Shabbir, a resident of Gunianwala Colony, was a drug addict and would often quarrel with his son over taking drugs. He added on the day of the incident, the accused’s 16-year-old son Abdul Rehman had an argument with him over the purchase of drugs.

In a fit of rage, accused Shabbir took out a knife and stabbed his son to death. The culprit managed to escape from the scene.

The police shifted the body to hospital for legal formalities. A case had been registered against the accused at the police station while raids were being conducted to arrest him. Further investigation was under way.

Meanwhile, two people were killed and another suffered injury in a road accident in Bhalwal police limits.

The police said that a loader vehicle, bearing registration LRZ-1888, was on its way to Sargodha when a recklessly driven coaster coming from the opposite direction collided with it on Gujrat Road.

As a result, two men identified as Muhammad Ali and Hussnain were killed on the spot, while Muhammad Ismail suffered injuries.

The coaster driver fled the scene. Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to District Headquarter Hospital in critical condition.

In another incident, a youth was electrocuted to death in Mela police limits.

The police said Muhammad Akhtar, a resident of Koray Kot, was repairing wires at an electric pole when he received a fatal electric shock.
