PTI to face a strong, united opposition in NA: Muqam

States that they had a number of options available to protest against the rigging

PESHAWER: With an alliance between the second and third largest parties in the national assembly announcing plans to competitively contest for key positions in the house, the provincial leader of the PML-N has come out to say that all parties sitting on the opposition benches will give a tough time to the incoming government.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Provincial President Amir Muqam on Friday has stated that the PML-N has had differences with other political parties in the past. But with all political parties echoing their complaints of rigging in last week’s general elections, they were united in giving a tough time to the federal government.



“We have political differences with the Awami National Party (ANP) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), but since almost all political parties faced similar treatment except for one [Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) recent victory in general elections], we will come up with a united opposition,” Muqam told reporters.



He stated that they had a number of options available to protest against the rigging, including the option chosen by the PTI over the past five years when they held a sit-in outside the parliament.

However, Muqam poured cold water on the move himself stating that the PML-N will never opt for civil disobedience which harms the multibillion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
