Legalising abortion

Letter August 03, 2018
in Malaysia a teenage girl was imprisoned for aborting a child after she was allegedly raped by her brother.

LAHORE: One is right in calling a justice system that favours men and discriminates against women biased. An identical situation exists in most countries of the world, as is evident by the recent debate in many countries over legalisation of abortion. Recently, in Indonesia a teenage girl was sentenced to six-month imprisonment for aborting a child conceived after she was allegedly raped by her own brother. Under the law of the land the brother was sentenced to two years in jail for raping his sister, but this did not do justice to the girl.

I don’t know whether two years’ imprisonment is sufficient for a rapist who is also guilty of incest. Isn’t it a legal right of a rape survivor to be allowed abortion!
