Shopkeeper killed for resisting robbery

Police cordons offs the area to arrest the culprit

MULTAN: Bandits shot and killed a shopkeeper and injured another person for showing resistance in the Qadirpur Rawan area.

The police said three bandits stormed into a jeweller's shop and tried to snatch gold ornaments at gunpoint. In the meantime, shopkeepers Abdur Rehman and Khadim Hussain put up resistance. The outlaws opened fire on them and Abdur Rehman was killed on the spot. Khadim Hussain was also injured. The injured was shifted to Nishtar Hospital for treatment.

After the incident, relatives of Abdur Rehman protested at the Qadirpur Rawan By-pass and demanded police arrest the culprits. The markets in Tataypur and Qadirpur Rawan were closed in protest against the killing and business activity remained suspended.

Later, Saddar SP reached the spot and negotiated with the protesters. He assured them that the accused will be arrested and awarded strict punishment. After the negotiations, the protesters dispersed peacefully.

Meanwhile, SSP Operations Tauseef Haider said that the police was making efforts to nab the culprits. He added police had cordoned off the area and would arrest the suspects soon.

The police registered a case against the accused and started an investigation.
