While tradition dictates that the prime minister takes up residence at the PM House on Constitution Avenue, Imran had asserted in his victory speech that he would not reside at the officially designated residence.
‘Imran Khan to be sworn in before August 14’
“I will be ashamed to live in a palace that is the PM House when the majority of the population lives below the poverty line,” he said. “We will choose a place in the Minister’s Enclave. The PM will live among other ministers.”
“We may make it an educational institute. Governor houses will be open to the public. We will also commercially use government guest houses in the hill stations to generate income.”
Why Pakistan should elect Imran Khan
It is pertinent to note that the PTI lacks a simple majority to form the federal government and Punjab government, it has a majority in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The party's senior leader Jahangir Tareen has been wooing independents and other parties including Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) to form the government.
