They are human too

Legislations for the rights of transgender persons have been passed but they do not seem to be implemented

SUKKUR: A few days back, on my way from university to home, I saw a seven to eight years old child making fun of a transgender person beside a road along with his friends. It made me think whether this community would ever get the respect which it deserves by virtue of being as human as all of us are or if they will always be punished for the crime which they don`t even committed. Legislations for the rights of transgender persons have been passed by the Government of Pakistan, but like other laws, this law also does not seem to be implemented in its totality. However, there are some good examples also available in our society like Marvia Malik who was appointed as a first transgender news anchor of Pakistan, but majority of the transgender persons continue to experience ridicule.
