TTP Warning: ‘Assaults to continue even after US exit’

TTP spokesperson warns of strikes on high-value targets at even larger scale to avenge the death of Bin Laden.

The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Thursday vowed to continue attacks against Pakistan, even if the US leaves Afghanistan, till the implementation of the Islamic system in the country.

Talking to the BBC, the spokesperson for the TTP in Mohmand Agency Sajjad Mohmand, warned of strikes on high-value targets at an even larger scale to avenge the death of Osama bin Laden.

He said that Taliban attackers are not only limited to tribal areas they have also spread across Pakistan and the world.

Sajjad Mohmand said that the Taliban were not against the nuclear assets of Pakistan, which he said were assets of Muslims and of Islam. He added that these assets will be preserved and used for the security of the Muslims.

I am afraid that more trouble and bloodshed is on the cards since LeJ and SSP have presumedly joined hands with TTP and it remains to be seen that for how long LeT and JeM would lie low or join their brothers in arms soon for implementation of shariat law in Pakistan. The course of events were predicted by leading defence and political analysts (including self) more than a year back but the same were ignored and dismissed by the number one institution.

Vicram Singh | 13 years ago | Reply It is surprising you guys have not been able to catch it yet - Pakistan is Saudi Arabia's "strategic depth" against Iran, just like Pakistan views Afghanistan as strategic depth. The Saudis are after Pakistan's nuclear weapons. They are funding TTP and all others. And because of the Islam's connection to Saudi Arabia, TTP members are only too eager to please their Arab masters. Capture of power is TTP's aim. The Saudis do not have the time or the intellect to master nuclear technology - and they need Pakistan's expertise. They want to replace US control of Pakistan by Saudi control of Pakistan. Until they do this, they will be dependent on US for security guarantees vis-a-vis Iran. The Saudis know that as long as pro-West elite in Pakistan is in power, Pakistan will look towards US or China for support. How do you prevent that ? Answer is simple - get TTP to be a king maker. To a lot of Pakistanis who think Saudi control will be good for them - do realize that such a state will not mean more jobs in Saudi Arabia - but a real poverty stricken Sharia state.

I am not going to start cutting my LIMBS off..I am going to get to the root cause..Now we live in a society.. that is religiously motivated , in majority.. and US involvement in our country..is serving as the much needed fuel.. that gives the ground to the TTP mercenaries to recruit kids that are 18-19 years old......Now the trick is to get rid of this emotional and manipulative fuel..The US support has given us nothing in the past 10 years... So it does not matter if we get rid of them..without caring wether this would stop TTP or not..and then reorganize ourselves... @mussarat....I think nobody here says that TTP stands for Islam or Pakistan...but Imagine for a second..that you are born in a poor family and were sent to a "madrassa"..instead of being sent to a good school and college... Now... Its for people like us who had the privilege to study at good places and get exposure..to go ahead and carry out the much necessary psychological treatment of these kids.... and I believe that is the message that Imran Khan sends out when he speaks about reforms..

There is no concept of "impostion of Islam by force" or establishing Islamic society after the death of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) who first declared Yetrab, nowadays Medina in 622 CE where the Final Prophet Muhammad ruled for about ten years. After the death of the LAST PROPHET MUHAMMAD (SAW), not a single state all over the world was declared complete Islamic State that fitted vision of Prohet Muhammad (SAW), even the greatest and most powerful second caliph of Islam, though vast area was only "conquered " but never declared Islamic State or establish complete Islamic Society on the pattern of Medina. Sorry to say, law is split in today's Saudi Arabia where "Islamic law" is only in place for outsiders. Saudi society can be termed as real violent and aggressive bunch of group while in West or America there is one law starting from Obama to jack Tom and Harry, none are spared for breaking law. Taliban can befoul innocent and lured students of "maderssas" and not the civilised societies which are not bombing mosques, imambargahs or destroying or killing minorities or christians. This is a clarion call to the Pakistani nation from Taliban who should unite to chase terrorism like death and save pakistan from their evil shadows. This isn't about the USA it's about who controls Pakistan. Similar to Iraq -- at some point in time people are going to wake up and discover that it's not the American's who are blowing everything up - it's the terrorist.

Then the new cons(New Islamist- Pakistan's ultra modern urban society)will be talibanised with men of burger families wearing turban/having long beards and girls, who now are half dressed, will wear Afghani "Burqah'. Adeel | 13 years ago | Reply typical loser mentality who start criticizing Imran Khan for what TTP is doing...Imran Khan has always condemned TTP and has always asked the government to consider the root cause of all this conflict...where was TTP before 2004 when Musharaf sent the army in the tribal belt and allowed the drone strikes...i remember 80 innocent children were killed in the first ever drone strike...a few days ago i saw another picture of 3 little kids killed by another drone strike...and their relatives are taking revenge from the very army supposed to protect them...there were no bomb blasts in Pakistan when the government changed back in 2008 and thought about changing their policy on this phony war on terror...if the Americans can talk to taliban in Afghanistan why can't we talk with TTP and try to break them...I believe that news like these are utter non sense and we really need to get out of this phony war on terror and talk with these people...those who won't agree can then be dealt with the use of force...but till the time we remain american slaves for dollars...things won't change!

All you have done so far is that you picked only one point and criticized it without touching other aspects. Imran Khan has never been against military operation against the militancy, and remember, what the Taliban spokesperson is saying is today's version. Imran Khan has repeatedly said that once the American forces leave the region we can re-assess our strategy on our war against terror. At the moment all those people are terrorists who have been labelled such by Americans. Once they quit, we can decide what forces we have to fight and which elements we can call on the talking table. Military force will never solve the issue and this war will continue forever as we have seen in the case of American and NATO forces struggling in Afghanistan for the past 10 years. Additionally, a vast majority of Pakistanis don’t want this to happen. Islam is liberal in a sense that it allows everyone to live independently; even he/she is not a Muslim. Plus it is also against the teachings of Islam to fight a war against the state, especially when most of the population is predominantly Muslim.

This type of behaviour is not tolerable therefore we warn all the culprits not to break Pakistani Law (or else we will amend it according to your choice if you just promise to leave us alone). In line with the threats, the government has formed a committe to discuss on the matter. I am telling you that the matter will be resolved (as the problems were resolved during the years of present government) very shortly and we will deal culprits, law breakers, etc with the iron hand and will make sure that the justice is given to the route level (as usual).

These are ideologically motivated groups that want to take control over the state, and enforce their own version of Islam. Sectarian terrorism, blowing up of schools and barber shops has no political motive behind it; it’s all ideological. That’s what the good Taliban did in Afghanistan, and that what the bad Taliban will do in Pakistan. I advise everyone to visit the fatwa section of the websites of the madrassas which nurture this extremist mindset.
