ABBOTTABAD:
With monsoon rains lashing the hillsides, there has been an apparent gastroenteritis outbreak in Abbottabad, with doctors claiming that they have treated as many as 1,500 patients over the past three days alone.

Abbottabad District Health Officer (DHO) Dr.Faisal Khanzada, while speaking to the media, said that the patients had sought treatment mostly at Jhugian, the District Headquarters Hospital and the Ayub Medical Complex over the last three days.

He added that they had set up special camps across the district where at least 10 doctors and 12 paramedics were providing treatment to patients. The camps, they said, had provided treatment at least 500 patients.

Of these, 400 patients required the administration of medicines. After being treated in the camps, they were referred to hospitals and basic health units for provision of medicines. DC directed Wasa, the TMA and the Cantonment Board along with the ADC to visit parts of the city.
