IT ministry leaves 25% funds unutilized

No funds have been utilised in the purchase of land in Karachi and Lahore for establishment of IT parks

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has not utilised almost 25 percent of the funds allocated during last fiscal year for its new and ongoing projects in Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). The government earmarked Rs1.5 billion for its 16 projects and the ministry has not utilised Rs417 million in the prescribed time period, official sources told APP. No funds have been utilised in the purchase of land in Karachi and Lahore for establishment of IT parks worth Rs5 million, and expansion of broadband internet services in AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). In the projects replication of e-office (basic common applications) at 45 divisions of federal government and technology park development project (TDP) at Islamabad (Phase I) almost 40% have been utilised.
