12th Round: Talks on Siachen resume on May 30

Pakistan’s Defence Secretary Syed Ather Ali will meet his Indian counterpart on Monday for a fresh round of talks on the Siachen issue, Indian officials said on Thursday.


“The two day-long talks will start on May 30. The Pakistan delegation will be led by Defence Secretary Lt General (retd) Syed Ather Ali. The team includes Maj Gen Ashfaq Nadeem Ahmed, Maj Gen Munwar Ahmed Solehri and Maj Gen (Retd) Mir Haider Ali Khan,” the Press Trust of India quoted Indian defence ministry officials as saying.

“The Indian delegation will be led by Defence Secretary Pradeep Kumar and members of the team include Special Secretary R K Mathur, Director General of Military Operations Lt General AM Verma and the Surveyor General S Subha Rao.” Eleven rounds of talks have been held so far.

G. Din | 12 years ago | Reply Pakistanis should remind themselves that any agreements arrived at in such meetings are, first, to be approved by the Cabinet and, second, by the Indian Parliament. So, let us keep ourselves grounded!
