Katrina Kaif replaces Priyanka Chopra in 'Bharat'

Actor Priyanka Chopra received a mixed bag of responses from her colleagues regarding her engagement to American singer Nick Jonas. While Bharat's director Ali Abbas Zafar was happy for the newly engaged couple, producer Nikhil Namit called the Quantico star "unprofessional" for pulling out last minute.

With Chopra's departure, the search for her replacement began. And after going over an industry full of talent with a fine tooth comb, Katrina Kaif was chosen to grace the film opposite Salman Khan, reported Hindustan Times.

We all know that the Baar Baar Dekho actor and Khan have amazing chemistry, both on and off screen. The two have previously worked together in Ek Tha Tiger, Partner and Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya. The pair also performed while on the Dabangg tour recently.

Zafar confirmed that the film's shooting will begin in September, stating that he is extremely excited to work with Katrina and Salman again. "We have had exciting collaborations in the past. Katrina got on board just in time for this project.”

The director announced Chopra's leave in a very clever tweet, “Yes Priyanka Chopra is no more part of Bharat the film and the reason is very very special, she told us in the 'Nick' of time about her decision and we are very happy for her. Team Bharat wishes Priyanka Chopra loads of love and happiness for life.”

Jonas reportedly popped the question to Chopra on her 36th birthday which they celebrated together in London.
