He expressed these views while visiting the hospital and reviewing the facilities that are being provided. He was also accompanied by Specialised Healthcare Secretary Saqib Zafar.
Mental health services inaugurated at Centre for Clinical Psychology
During the visit, PIMH Executive Director Mudassar Hameed Qureshi revealed that 1,000 patients were under treatment at the hospital. At present, the institute is facing an acute shortage of doctors and staff.
In addition to recruiting staff, a case has also been forwarded to the Punjab Public Service Commission for appointing people for grade 17 and above, he added.
The chief secretary also inspected different sections of the institute and asked patients about the facilities being provided.
He also ordered that a 100-bed rehabilitation centre for addicts be made functional at the earliest possible convenience, while the recruitment of doctors and staff be made on a priority basis. He also checked the quality of food and the hygiene in the kitchens.

Earlier, the chief secretary visited United Christian Hospital (UCH) in Gulberg. He directed the specialised healthcare secretary to submit a comprehensive plan to rehabilitate the hospital.
The hospital can be helpful in providing quality healthcare to patients under a public-private partnership, the chief secretary maintained.
