Justice Tufail H Ebrahim suspended three Statutory Regulatory Orders (SROs) that had placed restrictions on the import of disposable syringes, drugs and cannulas. These restrictions will not be imposed as long as the case is being heard.
A petition was filed by the Pakistan Chemists and Druggists Association that questioned the imposition of pre-conditions on imported items. They maintained before the Sindh High Court bench on Thursday that in case of a delay in the imports, 70% of patients would suffer as 30% of the supply comes from abroad.
The bench suspended the imposition of the three SROs, while ordering pre-admission notices to be issued to the federal and provincial governments.
