Maximum happiness for the maximum number

To many, Imran Khan’s victory also marks an end to hereditary politics

HYDERABAD: Experience shows that Pakistani politicians are long on promises and short on delivering. The result of this disconnect between promises and performance is that the common people continue to suffer. Only the upper crust of society has so far benefited irrespective of the fact which party rules the country. Improvement of the global indicators too reveals less about the real conditions many live in. The country is unfortunate not to have a leadership that works for the betterment of the poor and the downtrodden.

To many, Imran Khan’s victory also marks an end to hereditary politics. Let’s hope it also puts an end to practices that favour the few at the expense of the many. There should not be too much for the few and too little or nothing for the many. We should not go on putting layers after layers of sugar on honey and layers of layers of honey on sugar. This ought to change, has to be changed.
