All isn’t done yet

Letter July 28, 2018
There have been complaints about lack of facilitation of members of the transgender community and disabled people

KARACHI: With results pouring in from across the country and the European Union Commission of observers declaring the poll exercise satisfactory, all isn’t done or over yet. With numerous complaints about lack of facilitation of members of the transgender community and disabled people not being able to cast their votes, the ECP must resolve these issues and not leave them to the fifth year of the upcoming government. From numerous constituencies, it has been reported that women were barred from voting, however, it is yet to be seen if elections anywhere will be declared null and void.

Moreover, even after 48 hours of the end of polling, the Election Commission of Pakistan is still engaged in compiling results as according to news reports only 82 per cent of the results have been announced in 24 hours since the close of voting process on the evening of July 25th.
