ISLAMABAD: There was a delay of several hours in the announcement of first election results. Counting of votes was in progress in many constituencies on July 26. The media often gives unofficial results. As votes are counted manually, there’s the possibility that votes could be over-counted or under-counted. This makes results less accurate.
The Election Commission must update its voting and vote count methods with the use of technology. This would not only make the whole exercise more accurate but also help the ECP get rid of allegations of bias and rigging by political parties. It is about time Pakistan used technology for such exercises which are conducted at the national level.
