KARACHI: It is shameful to see how the bigwigs of the mainstream Pakistani entertainment industry flew to Canada, days before the general elections for an award ceremony organised by a local media house. Clearly, the move is reflective of the apathy of both the celebrities and the organisers who chose not to change the dates for the event despite knowing full well the date of the general elections weeks ago.
Further, the statement issued by the same media house in defence of its decision and the celebrity tweets are hypocritical as those who often show off their patriotism while promoting their projects but did not stay back in the country for a day that comes once in five years and is important for more than one reason.
