Akhtar to undergo fitness test
LAHORE:
Controversy’s favourite fast-bowler Shoaib Akhtar will undergo a fitness test today ahead of the team selection for the forthcoming Asia Cup and the tour of England where the Pakistan team will first play Australia and then take on the hosts in a full series.
Akhtar was named in the provisional 35-man squad ahead of the tours and is hoping to return to the national training camp, given his one-off exceptional performance in the recently concluded Pentangular Cup. His performance proved enough to attract the selection committee’s sympathies.
Akhtar grabbed six wickets for 52 runs when he played for the Federal Areas Leopards against Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Panthers in the Pentangular Cup played in April in Karachi.
