Our language, our pride

Letter July 26, 2018
Young generation needs to be made aware of proud heritage our national language is!

MULTAN: There is something very peculiar about Urdu language, that is, our language is a much passionate expression of our emotions, thoughts and opinions than the English language. However, the young generation needs to be made aware of the proud heritage our national language is. Many deem fluency in English language an achievement they must be proud of. This attitude exists in many families and is even strongly reinforced in schools. I wonder who is to blame — ourselves as parents, or the institutions that have shaped us this way. In order to avoid the growth of this particular mindset, we must teach our children to be proud of their language, and to appreciate the unique quality that it possesses alongside being a lingual marvel.
