The Asian Cup cricket will be held from Sept 13 to 28 in the UAE

KARACHI: The Asian Cup cricket will be held from Sept 13 to 28 in the UAE. The UAE will host the 2018 Asia Cup after Pakistan expressed reservations on organising the tournament in India. Earlier, India had said that they wouldn’t host Pakistan in the Asia Cup and the Pakistan Cricket Board too expressed its reservations regarding the series in India. Due to tense relations between the two neighbours, India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since January 2013, but they continue to clash in International Cricket Council tournaments.

Relations between the two countries have deteriorated over the past decade. On the other hand, after the recent final match of the FIFA World Cup football, the world saw how Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic congratulated and hugged every French player, as well as French President Emmanuel Macron remained cordial with his counterparts throughout the final match. Such a sight is hard to imagine between the presidents or the political bigwigs of India and Pakistan. Although the adversarial relations between the two nations cannot end overnight, the two should make persistent efforts towards having better relations.
