PTI, PML-N activists placing bets over who will win

LAHORE: With elections just two days away, there is much excitement among die-hard supporters of political parties.

While the supporters of PTI claim the sun is about to set on the last weekend of the ‘old Pakistan’, PML-N supporters are confident that the sun will rise on a ‘sher la Pakistan' by the coming weekend.

Political activists of both parties have been actively participating in campaigns at small camp offices in different constituencies of the provincial metropolis. They are also placing bets over the over the victory or defeat of different parties.

PTI supporter Mian Usman has placed a bet with a PML-N activist, promising to take five friends to Murree if Nawaz League’s Khawaja Saad Rafique defeats Imran Khan in NA-131. This toughest competition is expected between these two political heavyweights from this constituency on July 25.

Usman believes Rafique will not be in a position to win the contest as his rival is Imran Khan who has proved that “Nawaz Sharif is a ‘chor' or ‘thief’.”

"My family and I are with PTI to build a naya Pakistan and do not want corrupt leaders any longer."

"This is the last weekend of the old Pakistan and the sun of July 25 will rise with the hope of a ‘naya Pakistan," says PTI supporter Muhammad Saeed in NA-125. He asserts that people of the country have seen the real face of the PML-N leadership and now there is no room for corrupt politicians.

When asked the reasons behind his level of confidence, he points to the power of the vote and says he is certain that the leadership of Imran Khan will usher in a new Pakistan.

On the other hand, PTI supporter Mirza Sohail Baig says he had been the supporter of the PML-N for a long time, but has changed his mind after Nawaz Sharif deceived parliament through his speech. He also points out that the former PM failed to establish the means through which he purchased the Avensfield property in the United Kingdom.

"Our new generation will not forgive us if we still vote for PML-N."

At the PML-N camp, Usman Mughal says the country will be transformed into the ‘sher ka Pakistan' after July 25. He adds those chanting slogans for a new Pakistan will be go into mourning on Election Day as everyone will be voting for PML-N.

Another PML-N supporter, Muhammad Kashif says the people will decide which leaders will run the country's affairs. He points out that PML-N has led the development crusade and the “lion will roar” on July 25. “The bat will be burnt forever."
