Cardiology institute inaugurated in Wazirabad

The completion of such projects is the need of the hour says caretaker CM Punjab

Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Dr Hasan Askari has inaugurated Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology on Sunday.

The CM visited the institute and inspected its different sections. He also visited patients and enquired about their health. The institute will facilitate the patients from six districts of the division with medical facilities. Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology is equipped with CCU, cardiac emergency, angiography, angioplasty, eco-cardiograph, radiology and technical laboratories.

WIC starts working


The project’s foundation stone was laid in 2006 and construction was started in 2007, however, it was made operational only after 12 years by the interim government. The institute has a capacity of 200 beds. The OPD was established in 2014 and in 2016 coronary angiography facility was made available for the public. It offers 24 hours emergency.

While addressing on this occasion, Dr Askari said the completion of such projects was the need of the hour as it would provide quality medical facilities to the people. He said serving humanity was the responsibility of every one along with the government and the role of doctors and other medical staff was noble. He said patients not only from Wazirabad but also from Gujranwala division and other neighbouring areas would also be benefiting from this hospital.
