QUETTA: Caretaker Balochistan Chief Minister Alauddin Marri has expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements made at the Pak-Afghan border for the general election, saying the Afghan government has provided safe haven to terrorists, who stoke violence in Pakistan.

“Our brave security forces personnel have been protecting the Pak-Afghan border with their lives, while the people of Chaman are patriotic and peaceful. People living across the Pak-Afghan border are also peace loving and seek love through brotherly relations,” said the interim chief minister during his visit to the Pak-Afghan bordering city of Chaman on Sunday.

Security forces personnel and district administration officials welcomed the chief minister.

Marri said, “Unfortunately, our enemies have major access in Afghanistan provided by the Afghan government. They have been stoking violence in Pakistan via Afghanistan.”

He urged the people of Balochistan not to listen to negative propaganda and come out of their homes on July 25 and vote for their candidates.

“The caretaker government is responsible for providing a safe atmosphere on the polling day and we are utilising all resources at our disposal for the purpose,” said Marri.

Marri distributed compensation cheques among the families of the victims martyred in the firing by Afghan border forces during last year’s clash between the Pak-Afghan border forces.

Qilla Abdullah Deputy Commissioner Tufail Baloch and security officials welcomed the interim CM and informed him about the border security management.
