Safdar 'unwell', doctors to assess condition

Incarcerated son-in-law of convicted prime minister fell unwell during a meeting with his legal counsel

RAWALPINDI: The incarcerated son-in-law of convicted prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday reportedly fell ill and paramedical staff was called to assess his condition, Express News reported.

Capt (retd) Safdar fell ill during a meeting with his legal team, said sources. According to prison officials, doctors from the District Headquarters Hospital Rawalpindi were called to check on Safdar. He will not be shifted to a hospital unless doctors advise further medical attention.

Safdar was shifted to Central Jail Rawalpindi on July 9 after he was found guilty by an accountability court in the Avenfield case along with his father-in-law Nawaz Sharif and wife Maryam Nawaz. It was reported Nawaz also met his legal team on Saturday after an earlier meeting on Thursday was cancelled by jail authorities.

Maryam to be shifted from Adiala to Sihala amid 'security fears'

Express News reported on Wednesday that Maryam Nawaz was being shifted from Adiala jail to Sihala rest house amid ‘security concerns’. Maryam had complained about prison conditions and was not eating the cooked meals being given to her.
