Minister confirms Nawaz in ‘better class’ prison

The ousted PM will be be given commodities at his own expense

Caretaker Punjab Information Minister Ahmed Waqas Riaz said the facility of a better class prison has been provided to Nawaz Sharif under the Jail Manual and according to his privilege.

In the improved class of prison, the ousted PM will get a bed, mattress, shoes, table, chair, a 21-inch TV, radio, toiletries, newspapers and other such commodities at his own expenses.

He further disclosed that Nawaz Sharif has been kept in a separate room of a better class portion of the jail where facilities like a bed, clothes, a roof fan, two bracket fans and toiletries have been provided. He maintained that a proper place has been allotted to Nawaz which has a lawn and where he can go for a walk.

He further stated that the medical staff of the jail and a consultant of the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology regularly examined the former PM and took special care in preparing food which has been advised by a nutritionist. He added that the health condition of Nawaz was satisfactory.

He continued that family members could meet him at will on any given Thursday.
