As perhaps India's biggest global icon, Priyanka Chopra is almost always on top of her game. From being the reigning queen of Bollywood to multiple Hollywood projects, this girl is really enjoying the best of both worlds.

As PeeCee turns 36 today, lets take a look back at the whirlwind year she's had this time. Compiled from Hindustan Times, here are seven times the Bajirao Mastani starlet made our jaws drop.

1. Rumoured relationship with Nick Jonas

It all began when the Quantico actor was spotted with the Jealous singer at a baseball game in the US. Needless to say, rumours of a potential linkup spread like wildfire.

But can you blame us? Priyanka and Nick really don't seem too bothered by the speculation, what with their multiple public appearances and joint international trips. In fact, the duo is currently in London to celebrate PeeCee's birthday together.

2. Standing up for Rohingya refugees

The global UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights recently paid a field visit to Dhaka in support of Rohingya refugees. Among them were children who's unfortunate experiences, Priyanka said, have scarred her for life.

3. Bridging the gap between Bollywood and Hollywood

The 36-year-old superstar sashayed into Hollywood with Quantico. Soon after that, she made her film with Baywatch, alongside Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron. Other than that, Priyanka has recently finished shooting for two upcoming international projects, A Kid Like Jake and Isn't It Romantic.

4. Returning to roots

Now that her international projects are complete, the Krrish actor is returning to her Bollywood roots with Bharat, which also stars Salman Khan. The film will mark Priyanka's return to Bollywood after three long years, after Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani. After Bharat, she will be seen in The Sky Is Pink, helmed by Margarita With A Straw director Shonali Bose.

5. The Royal Wedding

Priyanka was one of the first Indians to attend the Royal Wedding this year, as a close friend of Meghan Markle's. The star arrived at the ceremony in a custom Vivienne Westwood lavender suit and a Philip Treacy fascinator, which matched her suit perfectly. The look featured an asymmetrical neckline, crystal buttons and a cocktail-length skirt.

6. The Met Gala outfit

By now, Priyanka is no stranger to the red carpet. While the Barfi! star has graced numerous red carpet events in both India and the US, her Met Gala looks have always caught our attention - albeit for the wrong reasons.

This year, Priyanka opted for a wine red strapless Ralph Lauren gown with a billowing train paired with an embellished gold chain headdress reminiscent of a medieval knight. She completed her look with subtle make-up and maroon lips. The ensemble wasn't exactly our favourite but hey, PeeCee pulled it off!

7. The Memoir

Priyanka recently revealed that she is writing a memoir, titled Unfinished, which will be published simultaneously in India, the US and Britain next year. In the book, she said she will write about her feelings during the course of what has been a fascinating journey.
