Equipment needed on polling day has started reaching returning officers which includes election lists, bags to be used on polling day, screens to offer privacy to voters and stationery items. Returning officer will hand over the related equipment to presiding officers on July 24.
Ballot papers for 108 seats not yet printed
Ballot papers for Lahore's provincial and national assembly seats will be shifted today under Pakistan Army supervision. A team headed by a senior civil judge will take possession of ballot papers from the printing press and transport them to the provincial capital under Army escort.
FAFEN to deploy 19,000 observers for election day
Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN), a coalition of 50 leading civil society organisations, will be deploying around 19,000 observers to monitor 85 per cent of National Assembly polling stations across the country. The voting and counting process will be observed at 272 polling stations setup by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
