KARACHI:
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) reserved verdict on the bail application submitted by the five accomplices of former Malir SSP Rao Anwar in the Naqeebullah murder case.

The verdict on Anwar's bail plea in a possession of illegal explosives case will be announced on July 20 while the verdict on DSP Qamar Ahmed and four others will be announced on July 28.

In a case against Anwar and five others pertaining to illegal possession of explosives, Anwar's lawyer Advocate Amir Mansoob observed that the investigation officers registered the case without consulting the administrative judge.

Advocate Mansoob argued that his client was framed on the basis of ill-intentions.

Naqeebullah's father doubts ATC's impartiality in case against Anwar

The case was B-classed but the court never gave a verdict on it, said Advocate Mansoob, maintaining that when there was no court order terming the case as B-class, on what basis had the investigation officer registered the case.

He questioned how this other case could be registered when the court had already said no evidence is available to ascertain Anwar's presence at the crime scene.

After listening to the arguments, the court reserved its verdict on the bail plea of Anwar, DSP Ahmed and four others. The accused include DSP Ahmed, Assistant Sub-inspector Supurd Hussain, Head Constable Khizer Hayat and Sub-inspector Muhammad Yaseen.

Earlier, before the hearing, the plaintiff's lawyer boycotted the court hearing. We have expressed our lack of trust in the court, he observed, requesting for the proceedings to be halted.

Responding to the plaintiff's lawyer, the court rejected the plea and asked the plea be rectified.

On rejection of the plea to halt the hearing, the plaintiff's lawyer, Faisal Siddiqui, said an application had already been written and submitted to the court in this regard.
