Formula One: ‘Who has more tyres, wins’
Since the Pirelli tyres degrade heavily, many teams have started questioning the importance of qualifying.
BERLIN:
Jarno Trulli and Rubens Barrichello claim the race for pole position does not hold the same significance because of the changes to tyres in 2011. “The drivers are focusing more on saving a set of tyres than doing the fastest lap: Who has more tyres, wins,” said Trulli. Meanwhile, Barrichello has suggested that since the Pirelli tyres degrade heavily, many teams have started questioning the importance of qualifying.
