PML-N candidates narrowly escape assassination attempt in Attock

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidates Sheikh Aftab Ahmed and his son Sheikh Salman narrowly escaped an assassination attempt late Monday, after unidentified persons opened fire on their car in Attock.

Former federal minister and his son were on their way home after attending a corner meeting in Kamra, when their vehicle came under attack.

PML-N Attock leader held for ‘firing’ on police


Sheikh Salman is a PML-N candidate from NA-55 whereas his son is contesting polls from PP-1. The firing incident took place in the jurisdiction of City police station in Attock.

Nearly 150 people lost their lives and over 250 others were injured in the recent wave of terror attacks affecting political rallies in Peshawar, Bannu and Mastung.

Among those killed were Awami National Party (ANP) leader Haroon Bilour and Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) candidate Siraj Raisani, while former Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Akram Khan Durrani escaped unhurt.
