Rangers arrest seven suspects in Karachi, Hyderabad and Jamshoro

KARACHI: At least two workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London were apprehended on Sunday during a raid by law enforcement agencies (LEAs). Separately, the Rangers arrested seven suspects during ongoing raids in parts of Karachi and rural Sindh.

The arrested MQM-L workers were identified as Asghar and Salman Shaikh. Their arrests have not yet been officially disclosed. Sources in the party revealed that Asghar was associated the Union Council (UC) 26 while Sheikh with UC 21. They had reportedly chanted pro-Altaf Hussain slogans during an MQM-P rally in Gulshan-e-Iqbal a few days ago. The LEAs shifted them to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

It has been learnt that raids are being carried out for the arrest of other MQM-L workers who shouted pro-Altaf slogans in the MQM-P rally.

Meanwhile, the Rangers claimed to have nabbed seven suspects in Karachi and rural Sindh. According to a Rangers spokesperson, the paramilitary force detained a suspect, Adil Khan, during a raid in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. He was allegedly involved in various cases of robberies.

Two more suspects, identified as Riaz Hussain alias Basra and Zeeshan, were arrested during raids in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. According to the spokesperson, they were involved in drug peddling.

Raids in Hyderabad, Jamshoro

A joint raid was carried out by the Rangers and police in Latifabad area of Hyderabad in which they arrested a suspect, Sharafat Ahmed. The spokesperson claimed that he was involved in several crimes, including land grabbing, threat to murder, drug peddling and damaging public properties during strikes.

The paramilitary force also claimed to have arrested three more suspects during joint raids with the police conducted on a tip-off in Jamshoro district. The suspects arrested were identified as Babar, Bhoral Khoso and Sain Dino. According to the spokesperson, they were involved in various cases of crime, including possessing illegal arms and theft of motorcycles.

The Rangers recovered arms and ammunition from the possession of the suspects who were later handed over to the police for the initiation of legal proceedings.
