Police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders and charged them with involvement in terrorism, inciting violence and attempted murder following unrest in Lahore on Friday.

President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif, son Hamza Shehbaz, Javed Hashmi, Marriyum Aurangzeb and Raja Zafarul Haq were among the many named in the FIR.

Throughout Friday, multiple clashes were reported between PML-N workers and police which resulted in the detainment of scores of PML-N supporters.

The provincial inspector-general had also announced the detainment of PML-N leaders, but the reported order was not executed. With directives from caretaker Chief Minister Hassan Askari, Shehbaz had rerouted the rally from its original route to one that culminated at Abdullah Gul interchange instead.

PML-N's Tallal Chaudhry, Marriyum Aurangzeb and Khawaja Asif waved from their heavily protected vehicles at the wave of supporters surrounding them.

The commercial flight carry Nawaz and daughter Maryam landed later in the evening and the two were whisked away to Islamabad and then incarcerated at Adiala jail.
