According to reports, the country will dry up by 2025 if effective measures are not put into effect on an urgent basis
KHYBER-PAKHTUNKHWA: Unfortunately, since its inception Pakistan has been ruled by insincere politicians and weak institutions which even after seventy years have failed to realise their duties and obligations towards our nation and the state. As a result, Pakistan is still a state trying to find its balance between democracy and authoritarianism.
Recently, the water crisis in the country has resurfaced with much severity. According to reports, the country will dry up by 2025 if effective measures are not put into effect on an urgent basis. It is the government’s responsibility to resolve the water issue and build dams by consensus among major political parties. The recent remarks by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mian Saqib Nisar, regarding building of dams in Pakistan to overcome the water shortage problem are commendable. It is about time that all the state functionaries, politicians and other stakeholders carried out their duties and responsibilities to build the necessary number of dams.
