PMDC tests foreign qualified doctors

80% medical, 88% dental graduates pass NEB examination

ISLAMABAD: About 80 per cent foreign qualified medical graduates and 88 per cent foreign qualified dental graduates passed equivalency examination of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).



The PMDC has announced the results of the National Examination Board examinations (NEB). This exam is taken from Pakistani nationals who have received medical and dental qualifications from abroad.

The exam was conducted by National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and Armed Forces Institute of Dentistry (AFID), Rawalpindi simultaneously. This exam was conducted in three steps. Two steps were held earlier and successful candidates were eligible to appear in final step III examination.

A Total of 1,321 candidates appeared from which 1,066 were declared successful with overall 80 % result in the total NEB Medical exam.

Nine candidates appeared in the NEB Dental exam (OSCE/VIVA) from which eight were declared successful with overall 88% result in the exam.

These were patient based exams in which each candidate was practically assessed on different stations. Faculty of medical colleges consisting of professor’s, associate professors and assistant professors were examiners who assessed the candidates.



After completing all the steps and parts of the exam, pass candidates will be registered with the PMDC as doctors after getting notified by the Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination (NHSRC). The president of PMDC visited the exam to ensure transparency in the examination. The PMDC has uploaded the examination results on its official website.
